Toyota Brainwashes Scion Salesforce

artist-scion-tattoo-2 Either Toyota has a big brainwashing machine at the Scion dealerships, or this is simply a case of a way over-exuberant Scion sales manager. This guy actually defaced his arm with a Scion tattoo. Remember, this is a brand that has been around for, what, 4 or 5 years? For all we know, Scion could be gone before the decade is up. Imagine how hard it would be to get a job at a Chevy store with a giant, flaming Scion tattoo on your arm.

If you want a Ford or a Toyota logo, fine, go ahead I guess. But Scion? I imagine it would be like all those folks to got an Oldsmobile Tattoo a few years back. Oh wait, no one did that. Hmm.. I’m sticking with the brainwashing theory for now…..

**Update** - At Alex’s request, I have removed the picture of his tattoo.  In it’s place, however, I have added an artists rendition of what the tattoo looks like.  And, since the artist is yours truly, you know that the artwork is top-notch.  After all, without an image of what the tattoo looks like, this post makes no sense.

  1. First, let me say thank you for using my photograph of my arm without asking my permission. That was awfully kind of you.

Second, let me give you the reasoning behind my tattoo. Sure I have love for the Scion brand and no, I don’t plan on selling them forever. People generally get a tattoo to mark a point in their life or to remember something. Scion has provided me with opportunities to make friends from all over the country. People I will know for many years to come. People I can depend on for help and advice whenever I need it. It has also provided me multiple business opportunities as well as chances to travel and experience fantastic events.

This is a time of my life that I will always want to remember. This bit of ink will help me do that and I’m extremely pleased with it.

I’ll also say that I’ve seen the Oldsmobile tattoo. I’ve also seen the AMC tattoo. I’ve talked to those folks and their reasoning is similar to mine.

If you have love for something, anything, be it a brand, a team, a sport, or even your family this is one way to display that love. Some people don’t understand that, but I’m not really interested in pleasing them.

So, if you want to continue to slander my character please do so without my picture.

    Thanks.

    -Alex Millen

  2. Woooah there partner, settle down a bit. I’ve removed the picture as you requested ( though I replaced it with an artist’s rendition, so there’s still a visual representation ).

Hey, if you like Scion ( which, it would seem, you very much do ), then tattoo away, by all means. However, just understand that you might catch a little flak about it, and you should have a sense of humor.

If I decide to wear a pink hat every day to show my love for, erm, pink hat wearers (I had no idea where I was going with this, sorry ), then fine. However, I’d expect people to snicker and poke a little fun.

Same thing goes with a tattoo - learn to take a joke about it. You’ll have a lot more fun as time goes on - it’s much easier to laugh when someone remarks on your tat, rather than get angry or upset each time. Your blood pressure will thank you too.

And just to throw it out there, for the record, “slander” is defamation of character made orally. I didn’t defame you, or anyone, orally. If I had defamed you in this post, which I did not, it would be “libel” , which is written defamation of character. I didn’t call my lawyer to ask first, but I’m pretty sure “way over-exuberant” doesn’t qualify as libel.

Anyway, take it easy, sell plenty Scions ( gotta get paid, after all ), and thanks for reading.

  3. If you knew Alex, you would understand. Some people do things that seem crazy, but Alex has been on Scion Island since it’s inception and has become an intricate part not only in Scion of the Mid-West, but has also made a lot of friends that I hope he remembers in 50 years (including me.)

    word

come to s3 in October to meet Alex and all of his celebrity friends. http://www.s3event.com

  4. WOW… SOMEBODY SEEMS TO BE UNHAPPY I’M NOT POINT FINGERS ALEX-”COUGH”
TAKE IT EASY BUD, AND ENJOY LIFE.
  5. I know Alex personally and I applaud his love of Scion. I have a tattoo from one of the Country stations that I did a morning show for. It has not caused me any problem with working at the Adult Contemporary station where I am now.

It marks a point in my life I want to remember just as Alex does with his Scion experience.

To call it “brainwashing” is a bit much. IMO

Oh, and what’s wrong with pink hats?

  6. scion haters. i’m so brainwashed by scion i feel like a zombie. i drink, eat, sleep scion. This leroy brown character is prolly scionetics or whoever that guy was thats bashing. i for one will get a scion tattooed on me. it’s my skin not your buddy. They’re just jealous coz we have a box car :P
  7. I don’t know what a scionetics is. But we’ve got several more Scion fanatics on board that would seem to add evidence to my “way out there” brainwashing theory. Hmm… what is Toyota up to these days?
  8. Yes, the last name is the same. It ought to be. Alex is my son. When he first told me last year that he had done the tat, (his first one, by the way), I thought “Oh”. I gave him the usual line about “did you join the Navy or become a hard core biker” but when he sent me a picture of it I thought it was pretty cool. The Scion logo is only part of it. It forms the base for some very nice gray flames. Also, it all fits on that arm with room to spare. At 6′ 4″ and 250 /- I really don’t think he will ever care if someone negatively criticizes him for it. By the way, I don’t drive a Scion or Toyota yet. I still like my Jag. I kind of like the toaster though.
