Lots has been said about the Smart Car, so I won’t go too in-depth here. What has been missing until now is a price - but now that’s fixed. The Smart ForTwo will carry a base price of $11,590, which gets you an automatic transmission while you sweat with no A/C. If you want A/C, you’ll be staring at a $13,590 price tag. At that price point you also get alloy wheels, sunroof, a CD player, and some other goodies. All models sport a rockin’ 71 horsepower 3 cylinder engine.

The base ForTwo price tag doesn’t interest me, nor will it interest many. But at $13,590 for a well-equipped version, there may be a market for this car. Not that I would ever drive one, of course. IMHO this is a city-only car, as I wouldn’t feel safe taking one anywhere near the highway. There’s what, 5 inches between the driver and the front bumper?
