Nissan announced a recall of nearly a quarter million Xterras, Pathfinders, and Frontiers – the years range from 2005 – 2009. The problem is a bad Crash Zone sensor. Just a little thing that controls whether or not your airbag goes off in an accident – yikes! Though the problem is that salt can corrode the sensor, so it’s really only a problem on the costs, and up north where it snows a lot.
Nissan has a fix already, of course, which involves replacing the sensor. If your vehicle is affected, you should be getting a heads-up from Nissan shortly. As always, the fix is at no cost to the owner.
