Mazda RX-7
What you’re looking at is the Kabura concept, and potentially a brand new Mazda RX-7 - something enthusiasts have been clamoring for for quite some time. Let’s face it - the RX-8 isn’t flawless, and isn’t exactly a powerhouse of a car.
What can we expect from a new RX-7? Well specs are nonexistent, and speculation is high. What I’d expect to see is a strict 2 seat configuration - those with kids can jump to the RX-8 for the back seat. A smaller, lighter car than the RX-8, a more powerful ( and more torque-ful ) rotary engine, hooked up to a nice little 6 speed manual.
I think a little forced induction wouldn’t be a terrible thing - the rotary engine in the RX-8 is anemic, especially below 6k RPM’s, and that’s a problem. If the RX-7 is going to be a success as a semi high-end sports car ( think 350Z territory ), it needs more guts. Handling is great to have, but when there’s no cajones, there’s a problem. Personally, I’d like to see a real ( read: one with pistons ) engine instead of a rotary, but that’s likely wishful thinking.
