Isuzu calls it quits in US

It’s not often that I get to add an entire brand to the Deadpool here.  In fact, this is the first time that I can remember.  Isuzu has officially announced that they’re leaving the US market - they are stopping sales of their i-Series truck and Ascender.  Neither vehicle was produced by Isuzu ( both are GM rebadges ), so no worries about shutting down factories.

Total estimated cost to Isuzu is $37 million, most of which will cover dealer buyouts.  Pretty steep cost to stop selling cars, but better than continuing to bleed money by selling cars.  One final question, though.  Isuzu was still selling cars?  When’s the last time you saw a new Isuzu on the road?

Note:  Isuzu did manage to sell 7906 units all of last year in the US.  Apparently none in Texas, though.

  1. I see a FEW Ascenders, and the I290/370 are horribly rare and far between. I sa w a lot of the in Louisiana… I think had they brought old name plates, most notably the Vehicross and the Rodeo, maybe even the Trooper. Fresh ideas and famous name plates could have done a lot…
