Honda will not build plug-in hybrid

Honda’s CEO doesn’t believe that plug-in hybrids will reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and isn’t interested building them. Instead of a plug-in hybrid, Honda is continuing to develop their fuel cell technology. In the meantime there are two traditional hybrid vehicles in the works -the global small hybrid as well as the CR-Z concept.

This is a bit disappointing to me because I was hoping to buy a plug-in hybrid from Honda when my Civic Hybrid is up for replacement. I’m a few years away from needing a replacement, since I just bought my Civic in August of this year. I was hoping that Honda would come through and produce another product that I’d really like to own. Toyota is not the way I want to go, and I certainly don’t want to buy a Chevy ( the Volt could be promising, though ).

In any case, it’s disappointing to hear Honda’s stance on this matter. Hopefully Toyota will release a plug-in Prius, have it met with wild success, and Honda will rethink things.
