Honda Global Small Hybrid Spy Shots

honda-small-hybrid It’s been known for awhile that Honda was planning a small global hybrid, to compete with the juggernaut that is the Toyota Prius. Today, we see proof that Honda already has this hybrid under development - which means it could arrive as early as 2008, as a 2009 model. Pricing is expected to start at about $17,000, which puts it well below the current Civic Hybrid, and well below the Prius as well. Projected sales are 200,000 units annually ( 100k in the US alone ).

So, what do I think? I think it’s a shame that the car will look like this. I despise hatchbacks - and this is ugly, even for a hatchback. In fact, I think this spy shots shows a car that is uglier than the current Honda Fit ( a terrible looking hatchback ). I hope that Honda rethinks their design, and takes this car in a different direction before the production unit heads this way.
