GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook problem revealed

The big secret regarding the ‘stop-sell’ on the GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook crossovers is out. The problem is a motor mount that can collect water and freeze up during a cold spell. If that happened, it could cause vibration and roughness. How in the world GM figured this out between the time they shipping the vehicles to dealers and the time they got there is beyond me.

The fix is easy – drill a hole in said motor mount. That way the water will drain out, thus never collecting and freezing. The dealer can perform this fix without sending the units back to GM. There’s no word yet on how long it will be until the stop-sell is removed.

The service bulletin will be sent to retailers later day and they can begin delivery of Outlooks.

Mike,
Thanks for stopping by with an update. I’m glad to see that you guys are on top of everything, and the problem is being resolved so quickly. I also have to say I’ve got a lot of respect for Saturn right now – not many automakers are out and about on auto blogs that I know of. Here’s hoping the Outlook is a huge success.
