Houston Cars

The Ford Taurus name, that is.  Look for the announcement tomorrow in Chicago - the Ford 500 name will die, and the refreshed 500 sedan will be renamed the Taurus.

My first thought is that it’s stupid..  changing the name on the back doesn’t make the car less boring.  Granted, the average consumer has no idea what the Ford 500 is, so maybe this won’t be a bad thing.  People will see the advertising for the new Taurus, and it’ll be familiar.  Not because it’s the same as the 500, but because they know the Taurus.  Whatever, I still think renaming vehicles without redesigning them is stupid.
