They managed to avoid bankruptcy, unlike their crosstown competition, and now Ford has posted a healthy profit for Q1 2010. $2.1 Billion to be exact – and a solid $1.2 Billion of that was made in North America.
According to the Detroit News, this marks Ford’s fourth consecutive quarterly net profit – certainly good news. For comparison, Ford lost $1.4 billion in Q1 2009 – so this represents a $3.5 billion swing to the positive.
Ford still has it’s issues – among them a huge debt load, and a still heavy reliance on trucks and SUV’s. But it’s great to see a domestic automaker doing well these days, and even better that’s it’s Ford, who did it without billions in free government money.
