Corvette ZR1 starts at $103,300

2009-chevrolet-corvette-zr1No more doubts about “how much will it cost?”  No sir, those days are gone.  According to GM’s latest press release, the 2009 Corvette ZR1 has a base MSRP of $103,300.  That number does include the destination charge, but not that $1,700 gas guzzler tax.  Including that, you’re at a nice, round $105,000.  That is, of course, if you don’t mind not having things like leather, Bose, side airbags, and some other things you might expect to find standard on such an expensive car.  Pony up for the $10k option package if you prefer that kind of stuff.  Now you’re rockin out at $115,000.  Lest you start saying “but it’s so expensive”, let me remind me of some numbers.

  • 638 HP supercharged 6.2 liter V8
  • 0-60 MPH in 3.4 seconds
  • 1/4 mile in 11.3 @ 131 MPH
  • Top speed 205 MPH
  • EPA Says: 14 mpg city / 20 MPG highway.

The performance numbers are enough to make your jaw drop.  The EPA ratings might surprise you.  Sure it’s no Prius, but 20 MPG highway for a 638 HP supercar?  I’m in all day long.  The General screws up a lot, but this time, it’s what we call a home run.  Hell, a grand slam.  Kudos GM.
