The SSC Ultimate Aero was awesome in it’s day. But that day is gone, it’s top speed record eclipsed by the latest creation from Bugatti. The mad scientists at Shelby Supercars didn’t call it quits, of course. They were in the lab all along, doing what mad scientists do.

What they came up with is shocking. Bordering on absurd. Meet the SSC Tuatara. Ignoring the awful name, it’s important to see what this car is all about. If you think “White Batmobile” upon gazing at the Tuatara, then we think alike. Powered by a Lamborghini-destroying twin-turbo 7.0 liter V8 engine, the Tuatara puts out a ridiculous 1,350 horsepower.

One Thousand. Three hundred. And Fifty horsepower.

That’s two Murecielagos and change.

The Tuatara isrear wheel driveand (thankfully) automatic transmission only. I shudder to think how often you’ll have to replace those (undoubtedly expensive) rear tires.

But really, if you can afford a Tuatara (pricing not released yet)… tires aren’t really on your list of concerns. Trying to not kill yourself as you drop the hammer is pretty much the only thing on your mind. What a problem to have.

By now you should be familiar with the Pagani Huayra. It’s the latest creation from the mad scientists at Pagani. If you thought it looked wild, wait until you hear it. There’s just something indescribably awesome about a twin turbo V12.

Pagani makes some frickin’ awesome cars. The Zonda series was an outrageously styled, crazy fast bunch of cars. The folks at Pagani have decided to step things up a little bit, since the Zonda is no longer in production. Meet the Pagani Huayra. Pronunciation aside (since I have zero idea how to pronounce that name,) this car is absolutely wild.

With the doors closed, the Huayra looks pretty crazy. Putting your side mirrors on giant stalks will do that to a car, you know. Not to mention the quad center mounted exhaust out back. Then you open the doors, and you’re sure to drop a few colorful words. Yep, it’s a gullwing design. Damn.

Under the hood

Specs haven’t been finalized, but the Huayra will be using an AMG twin-turbo 6.0 liter V12 engine – good for over 700 horsepower. All of those horses go to the rear wheels only – no sissy all wheel drive system here. Curb weight is expected to come in just under 3,000 lbs… this car is stupid fast. Pagani is thinking 230+ MPH for a top speed.

The last version of the SSC Ultimate Aero was a beast – powered by a 1287 HP 6.3 liter twin-turbo V8. It was briefly the fastest production car in the world, before the Bugatti Veyron Supert Sport took the crown back.

The mad scientists at Shelby SuperCars don’t really like being in second place. That’s why they’re reinventing the Ultimate Aero. Meet the Ultimate Aero II. Under the hood is the most insane, evil, ridiculous powerplant the world has ever seen. SSC stuck with the same basic idea as the last go around, but took it a step further. How does 1,350 horsepower sound? Deafening, I would imagine. That’s what the twin-turbo 6.8 liter V8 produces. One thousand, three hundred and fifty ponies.

SSC is predicting a top speed of 275 MPH. If it succeeds, the crown will be stripped from Bugatti once again. Considering the feather-light 2600 lb curb weight of the Ultimate Aero II… I’d be worried if I was Bugatti. Very, very worried.

Blowing by the previous land speed record, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport clocked a ridiculous 267.81 MPH for a new world record. Unlike the more pedestrian regular Veyron, which manages a measly 1001 HP, the Veyron Super Sport puts out a stunning 1,200 HP. It also makes an earth-shaking 1,106 lb-ft of torque, if you’re in to that sort of thing.

Buyers looking to match the speed record will be sorely disappointed – Bugatti is electronically limiting production units to “just” 257.9 MPH, supposedly to keep the tires lasting beyond a single speed run.

Make no mistake about it, the 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS is the most powerful Porsche ever built. (Yes, that includes the famed Carrera GT.) In a long line of ridiculously fast 911′s, the 2011 GT2 RS is the fastest, most powerful yet. The specs are absolutely ridiculous – particularly the 620 HP figure. I won’t keep you waiting – here are the important specs:

2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Specs

• 620 HP 3.6 liter twin-turbo flat 6 (Up 90 HP)
• Curb weight: 3021 lbs (Down 154)
• 0-62 MPH in 3.5 seconds
• Top speed: 205 MPH
• Laps the Nurburgring in 7 minutes, 18 seconds.

A drastic power increase coupled with a 154 pound diet makes for ridiculous speed. Calling this car fast just doesn’t do it justice. It even topped the Corvette ZR1 around the ‘Ring, which is a pretty incredible feat.

Porsche will only build 500 of the 2011 GT2 RS, so if you want one, you’ll need to jump on it quickly. It should go without saying that you’ll need exceptionally deep pockets to actually buy one. US pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but the starting price in Euros will be $237,578. As of today, that translates to just over $300k US, though that doesn’t mean we’ll see quite that high of a price tag.

We haven’t seen the famed GTO name on a Ferrari in quite some time – but we’re about to see it once more.  The 599 GTO that you see pictured here is up against some pretty famous company, but I think it’s up to the challenge.

Remember, this car is rumored to have a 700 HP 6.0 liter V12 under the hood.  Seven hundred ponies.  Seven hundred.   Redline will come at a screaming 9,000 RPM.

Gorgeous looks, check. Ridiculous power, check.  Outlandish price, check.  Oh, I didn’t mention the price?  How about a base price of $319,495 euros.  Just in case you don’t speak European, that’s roughly $426,000 , depending on the day.  And remember, that’s the base price. Nothing Italian goes out the door without some very, very expensive options.

Koenigsegg Agera. Few can pronounce it. Even fewer can spell it. Fewer still could handle this car without wrecking very quickly. The Agera is the latest and greatest creation from Koenigsegg, (creator of the CCX-R,)and what a creation it is. Before talking about the looks, some numbers.

• 910 HP Twin-Turbo 4.7 liter V8
• 811 lb-ft of torque
• 2832 lb curb weight
• 0-62 MPH in 3.1 seconds
• Top speed: 242 MPH

In other words, this car is absolutely no joke. The Agera is one of the most powerful street-legal cars in history, which makes it befitting of a company like Koenigsegg. As far as looks, it’s absolutely wild. Wild to the extreme. Scoops, cut-outs, vents, LED’s, whatever. You name it, this car has it. The front end is just slightly busy for my tastes, but the profile and rear view are dead sexy. No one will mistake your Agera for a “regular” car, in any case.

Koenigsegg will build just 16 to 20 Ageras every year – with delivery starting later this year.  Pricing hasn’t been announced, but the traditional logic applies in this case.  That is, if you have to ask, you can’t afford it.  Don’t feel bad, I won’t be ordering one either, though not because I don’t want to.  Check out the gallery of this beast after the jump.

These are the first known images of the upcoming Fenix Supercar, to be built by Fenix Automotive.  Though you’ve probably never heard of them, surely you’ve heard of Noble Automotive.  Well, Lee Noble ( owner of the former Noble Automotive ) is running the show at Fenix.

On first look, I’d have to say there’s a lot of Lamborghini resemblance in the Fenix Supercar.  That’s not exactly a bad thing, but I prefer more unique supercars.  If I’m going to drop a few hundred thousand dollars, I want something really special.

Looks aren’t everything, of course.  Performance is what really matters in the supercar world, and I think the Fenix has that covered pretty well.  Buyers can choose between the more pedestrian 480 HP Chevy LS3 V8, or the Big Dog, also known as the 638 HP LS9.  The badass engine, of course, is from the Corvette ZR1, and is an absolutely monster.  Couple that huge engine with the target curb weight of 2645 lbs… well… you can do the math.  This car will be ridiculously fricking fast.  And it can be yours for a cool $240 grand.   We’re taking donations here at Houston Cars, by the way.  You know, in case you were wondering.
