If you’ve been dying for news on the upcoming 2012 Dodge Durango / 2012 Magnum, Twitter comes to the rescue. @AsianMartin in particular, as he snagged a spy shot of this soon to be released SUV. I utterly loathe the current Durango – it’s one of the ugliest vehicles on the road today. The 2012 version seems to be much improved. Not particularly adventurous… but Chrysler doesn’t need that. They need solidly built, good look vehicles that are top quality.

The looks are there – the quality is still a question mark. Here’s hoping.

The 2011 Audi A7 has been spotted circling the Nurburgring track in Germany. Unfortunately for us, Audi has the 2011 A7 covered up completely, so we can’t really get much of a look at it. All we can tell is that this is one big four door coupe / hatch looking thing. And that’s really it.

As for hardware, we do know that the A7 will share it’s platform with the A8, though it will be a shorter version of course. The next generation A6 will also use the same platform, yet be slightly smaller than the A7. One has to ask, at what point is there too much overlap in a product line? Until I get a look at the final 2011 A7, it’s hard to say. But this might be one of those instances where there really isn’t any room between two models. What say you, good readers?

Our European readers will get to this puppy in the near future, but here’s a glimpse for now – the 2011 Ford Mondeo.  There’s a completely updated front end, and what appears to be some changes out back, though there’s too much camouflage to be sure.

Besides the visual updates, the 2011 Mondeo will be available with Ford’s 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine, good for 203 horsepower .  As is typical in Europe, the Mondeo will also have a variety of diesel engines avialable, if that’s your thing.

Honda has pushed back the release of the 2012 Civic from late this year until sometime next year.  While some analysts are panicking and calling this the sign of Honda’s impending decline, I’m not worried.  Honda knows the the new Civic has to be fantastic – all the major automakers are putting out better and better offerings in the compact class.  If the top dogs at Honda didn’t think the Civic was quite ready, then going back to the drawing board is the best possible thing they can do.

The cats over at Auto Evolution snagged a spy shot of the 2012 Honda Civic – well, at least a test mule for the 2012 Civic.  We don’t really know anything about hardware, but you can be sure the Civic will be more fuel efficient than the already excellent outgoing model.  With stricter EPA standards looming, there really isn’t a choice in the matter.

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been making laps on the Nuburgring, and here’s a spy shot to prove it. No camouflage on the Grand Cherokee – just the finished product for all to see. All in all, it’s a good looking Jeep – one of the best to date.

Just like the current GC, the 2011 Grand Cherokee will offer a V6 and a V8 – with a 360 HP HEMI available as an option. The V6 will likely be the new “Phoenix” 3.6 liter mill that Chrysler’s been working on.

The reason for the ‘Ring laps? Possibly the testing of a new air suspension system called Quadra-Lift. This system allows the Grand Cherokee to lift up 2.6 inches, or get lowered 0.5 inches (“aero” setting).

In the market for a new Dodge Charger? Maybe you should hold off for a few months if you can.  The 2011 Charger that you see all camo’ed up to your left is due out later this year.  Chrysler did a great job of covering this puppy up, so there’s not a whole lot that you can tell from the pictures.

What we do know for sure is that there will be new engines under the hood, including Chrysler’s new V6 that they’ve been working so hard on.  I’m sure we’ll see some more ponies from the Hemi in the R/T and SRT8 models as well.

The name Durango may not even be around in 2012 – but for now, we’re calling this vehicle the 2012 Durango. In fact, this vehicle will share a platform with the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which will be a unibody platform instead of the traditional body-on-frame.

That fact certainly makes me question the Durango name. Perhaps Dodge will stretch the platform a bit to create room for a third row – though that technique didn’t work too well with the Jeep Commander. Rather, I’m guessing that this will end up a midsize CUV instead of the almost-fullsize SUV that the Durango is today.

There are no guarantees under the hood just yet, but the expected engine will be the Pentastar 3.6 liter V6 as standard, with the 5.7 liter Hemi V8 optional.

From a looks standpoint… the vehicle seen in these shots is far too heavily covered to really get any info at all. We’ll have to wait until further along in the vehicle’s development to get a good idea of what it looks like.

Just one image, and this one is a hatch. There will be both 5 door hatchback and 4 door sedan versions of the 2011 Aveo, just like with the current version. That said, there’s still a chance that this car won’t be called the Aveo at all, but rather, the Viva. I’ve never been a fan of swapping out model names, like GM and Ford tend to enjoy…. because it kills off the model loyalty that has been built up.

With the Aveo, I’m not sure that’s a real issue. Anyone who has driven an Aveo knows exactly what I mean. Hopefully the 2011 Viva / Aveo / Whatever can make us forget all about the current Aveo.

Here are a couple spy shots of the revised 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The overall look is very much unchanged – it’s easily recognizable as a Grand Cherokee. What you do see is a very BMW flair, especially in the taillights / rear end treatment. I have to admit, it looks good. And not just “for a Jeep” – this is all around a good looking midsize SUV.
