Are you the semi-proud owner of a 2001-2002 Mazda Tribute? Good for you. Bad for your brake master cylinder. Some Tributes from these model years could leak brake fluid. This fluid could possibly come into contact with some wiring, potentially causing a fire.

Brake fluid leaking. Fires. Not good stuff.

Mazda is sending out notices to affected owners now. A Mazda spokesperson has actually recommended that you leave your Tribute parked until it’s fixed – parked away from your home. That’s right, Mazda is actually recommending that you park your Tribute outside, so the potential fire doesn’t potentially burn down your house. That’s more than a bit disturbing.

Some of these Sentras, from model years 2010 and 2011 have a defect which could cause the engine to stall. Not good news if you’re barreling down the highway at 70 miles per hour.

According to the NHTSA, the zinc coating on the positive terminal stud bolt is thicker than its supposed to be. This could potentially cause a voltage drop, which could in turn make the vehicle hard to start or even stall while moving.

The fix is easy — just swap out the positive terminal. Nissan dealers will handle this repair at no cost to owners, of course. While Nissan will notify affected owners in the coming weeks, you may feel better calling Nissan now at 1-800-647-7261.

Nissan has issued a recall for a small number (7365) of it’s popular crossover – the Rogue. The only model year affected is 2009.

The concern is a flaw in the power steering system, which could cause the power steering to fail. If you’ve been driving for awhile, this may not be the end of the world… but there are plenty of folks out there who have never driven a car without power steering. No accidents have been reported as a result of this flaw.

The hits just keep on keeping on for Toyota. This time, they’re recalling over half a million vehicles for a potential steering flaw. Roughly 80% of the affected vehicles are in the US, according to Toyota. Only V6 powered vehicles are affected by the recall, which involves replacing the crankshaft pulley.

So far, no accidents have been reported. Let’s hope it stays that way.

Sure, the 2012 Impala was just recently announced. That doesn’t mean it can’t already be flawed. Chevy has announced a recall for all 10,344 2012 Impalas it has sold so far. On certain units, there is an issue with the power steering host, which could cause the car to lose power steering.

New drivers probably can’t even fathom a car without power steering… I’ve only driven a few vehicles without it, and it sucks.

Owners of a model year 2008 Chrysler Town & Country, Chrysler Grand Voyager, or Dodge Grand Caravan may want to keep a close eye on their mailboxes. Chrysler has issued a recall for 300,000 of these vehicles. The problem? Possible random airbag deployment.

Say what?

Some of these vehicles may be prone to leaks coming from the air conditioning system. This leak could damage the airbag electronics, possibly causing a sudden unwanted deployment of said airbags. Neato.

Owners will receive their notices later this month, and the repair will be free of charge as always.

GM has decided to recall a cool 47k of it’s 2011 Cadillac SRX due to airbag issues. Specifically, one of the modules may not be programmed correctly. This means the right-side curtain airbag may actually be deactivated if there is no front passenger. The problem, of course, is that someone sitting in the rear passenger seat would be unprotected if there is a crash.

Dealers will reprogram this module at no cost to customers, as usual. Recall notifications should start hitting mailboxes within the next week.

Honda just released the 2012 Civic, but they have already issued the first recall. 1,156 vehicles are potentially affected by this problem – a possible fuel leak. A particular O-ring (which seals a connection in the fuel line) is misaligned on certain vehicles.

Honda will be sending out notices to affected owners soon. As usual, repairs will be handled by dealers at not cost to Civic owners.

Owners of 2006-2007 Honda Civic Hybrids should keep an eye on their mailboxes. Honda is recalling 36,700 of these vehicles to replace the DC to DC converter. This part of the IMA hybrid system is responsible for charging the 12 volt battery.

The faulty unit that some of these vehicles has could fail, causing your vehicle to stall. Not a big deal if you’re crusing around town, but potentially a disaster at highway speeds. In any case, Honda is issuing the recall, and if your vehicle is affected you should know within the next few weeks.

If you’re the proud owner of one of the 303k Chevy Impalas that GM is recalling, well, you may not want to trust those seat belts. Certain units from model years 2009 and 2010 are affected by this recall.

On the defective cars, the seat belt may not restrain you as intended in the event of a crash. Since that’s pretty much the entire job of a seat belt, it’s kind of a big deal. No injuries have been reported yet, and hopefully it remains that way. Owners should be getting notices shortly.
