The new McLaren has a name – and it’s the MP4-12C. OK, it’s not the greatest name ever, I’ll give you that. But it’s a McLaren, so I’ll forgive the name for just now, as I drool over the images that you see here.

Back when P11 was the code name, I had suggested that we might see a whopping 700 HP from the newest McLaren supercar. The information that I received today seems to point in a different direction. Here are the latest expected specs:

McLaren MP4-12C Specs

• 600 HP Twin Turbo 3.8 liter V8
• 433 lb-ft of torque
• 8500 RPM Redline
• Carbon fiber construction for low weight
• 0-60 MPH in the low 3 second range
• 200+ MPH top speed
• ~$265k base price

Will it one-up the fabled F1? No idea. But it’s drop-dead sexy, and the specs are incredible. Enjoy more pics below:

McLaren’s last car, the legendary F1, was so incredible, so dominant, that’s still one of the fastest production cars ever created, 17 years after it debuted. McLaren hasn’t announced their intention to build a new supercar, but they’re doing it just the same. You can get a rough idea of the looks from this shot, though the camo covers up just about everything.

LLN seems to think that the P11 will put out 550 HP from a 6.2 liter V8. I strongly doubt that. Considering that the F1 made 627 HP, I can’t see McLaren going backward. If the 2011 P11 debuts with less than 700 HP, I would be very surprised.
