Final numbers are in for each automaker’s sales figures - some are pretty while some are not. There aren’t any surprises when looking at the overall automakers, but there are some surprises for the individual brands. The overall look is Imports up, Domestics down. For those who like a little more detail, [...]

The sales figures for November are out, and here are a few of the highlights:
Acura takes a 25% nosedive - ouch. That’s what an aging lineup will do for you, I suppose. Meanwhile Honda jumps 10% on strong Civic and Accord sales.
GM as a corporation saw an 11% decrease in sales - not [...]

Another month has come and gone in the car business - with good tidings for some, and not so much for others. There are a few surprises in the mix - notably Mercury with a 20% increase over last October. Who would’ve though? Anyway, here are some of the winners:
Kia - [...]

After a stunning 8 consecutive quarterly losses, Ford is back in the black. In fact, they’re way in the black - they posted a $750 million profit for the second quarter. Really that number looks a lot better than it is - excluding special / one-time items, the profit was $258 million.
Either way, it’s [...]

This may go down in history as one of the worst investments of all time, or one of the best. The way things look right now, I’d lean towards the latter. Daimler-Benz paid $36 billion for Chrysler in the “merger of equals” / takeover way back in 1998. So, 8 years later, Chrysler is [...]

Well, I can sum up the numbers for March 2007 in just one short sentence.
Chrysler, Ford, and GM down, Honda, Nissan, and Toyota up.
Who wouldn’t thought - make quality vehicles and people will buy them.
Man that was easy - I need to start summarizing more often.
Link.

Autoblog has the detailed list if you want to read the long version. I’ll give you the short version, straight and to the point. Here’s the highlights:
Saturn comes out of nowhere, and is up 59% over last February - good for them!
Buick continues to die, with sales off 29.5%. With the average [...]

Saturn is famous for their pricing policy - the price is on the sticker, and that’s final. If you don’t like it, you’re welcome to buy something else. Now GM’s rejuvenated one-price brand is adding a new trick to their bag - test drives at your home. Anyone who is in the market for a [...]

ExxonMobil put more profit on the books in 2006 than any other company in the history of the United States of America.
If that doesn’t sink in, then I don’t know what to tell you. ExxonMobil recorded a net profit of $39.5 BILLION last year. That’s just about $4.5 million per hour for the entire year - [...]

The sales numbers for January of 2007 are in, and things are pretty ugly across the board. I’m just going to touch on a few that jump out at me - you can read the full story at Autoblog.
GM took a 22% nosedive, partly because of reduced fleet sales, which is a good thing long-term. [...]

No, that’s not official. But what is official is that the British cat lost a whopping $715 million in 2006. That’s especially staggering when you consider the fact that Jaguar is a very low volume brand - they sold less than 21,000 vehicles here in the US last year. I’ve been saying it for months, [...]

The 2006 financial reports are in from Ford - and they’re not pretty. Total 2006 year losses mounted and added up to an astonishing 12.7 BILLION DOLLARS. 5.8 billion of that loss was in the 4th quarter alone. This is in light of the fact that Ford Motor Credit earner a profit [...]

I always knew Porsches were overpriced, but here’s the proof. Leftlane News reports that for every car Porsche sells, it earns $28,000 in profit. Compare that lofty figure to cross-town company and sometimes partner Volkswagen - $400 per car. Next time your rich buddy or boss buys a Porsche, just smile and know that he [...]

The numbers for December are here ( thanks to Autoblog ) , and I’m going to touch on the stuff that’s interesting to me. The biggest highlights are Kia with a huge 66% sales increase over last year - that’s pretty strong. I guess more people are overcoming the ‘Kia’ stigma, or else more people [...]

The big secret regarding the ’stop-sell’ on the GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook crossovers is out. The problem is a motor mount that can collect water and freeze up during a cold spell. If that happened, it could cause vibration and roughness. How in the world GM figured this out between the [...]

We all know and love, well at least know, Joe Eberhardt, Chrysler’s executive vice president of global sales. And since Chrysler’s been doing so well, good ol Joe was giving one heck of a promotion. Ok that’s not exactly true, Chrysler’s in the crapper and Joe decided it’s finally time to bail out and run [...]

The General issued an immediate “stop-sell” to all it’s dealers on two of it’s most anticipated models in recent memory - the GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook. Here’s the details of the message -
Message: “Attention ALL Saturn Retailers and GMC Dealers […] This is to advise Saturn Retailers and GMC Dealers that we are [...]

As most of you know, every year Wards Auto builds their list for the 10 best engines of the year. I don’t pay attention every year, but there are a few really interesting picks this time around.
Here’s the list of the engines that won top honors - and the cars that were tested [...]

But they still can’t drive them. Saudi Arabia, a country situated in one of the most backward parts of the world, still to this day does not permit women to drive. That didn’t stop the recent opening of an a car dealership that is manned by an all-female sales force. The dealership [...]

Breaking news - super investor Kirk Kerkorian has sold his last remaining shares of GM stock. Mr. Kerkorian has been selling his stock off in chunks recently, after his repeated attempts at forcing a merger went south. But to hear that he dumped all his stock - that’s quick an announcement. Less [...]

Let that sink in for a moment folks. $5.8 Billion - and that’s Billion with a B. That is a very real amount of money - and a very huge amount of money. A significant portion of that loss can be attributed to PAG - Premier Auto Group. Even though the [...]

The last Ford GT ever to be produced rolled out of the Troy, Michigan factory recently. The final assembly of the GT was completed at this plant. Fittingly, the last Ford GT is the classic red with white stripes that we’ve all come to know and love.
In some ways, this event is [...]

Rick Wagoner, GM’s CEO, recently stated that GM does not need a partner. This, of course, comes after months of rumors regarding a proposed alliance between GM and Nissan-Renault. Wagoner is confident that GM can turn around on her own, without outside help. I never really thought an alliance with Nissan was [...]
