Pardon me while I shake my fist at the sky, and wonder why I don’t have the seven figure salary or trust fund required to buy a 2013 SRT Viper.
Now that I have that out of the way, THE VIPER IS BACK. It’s not a Dodge Viper anymore, it’s an SRT Viper. They could call it the Plymouth Viper for all I care. Let’s look at some quick specs real quick:
2013 SRT Viper Specs
- 640 HP 8.4 liter V10 engine
- 600 lb-ft of torque
- Six speed manual transmission
- Curb weight of 3354 lbs
For those counting at home, the new Viper packs an extra 40 horsepower, and extra 40 lb-ft of torque, and weighs about 105 pounds less than the old Viper. The power to weight ratio is ridiculous.
2013 Viper Design
There have been a lot of really good designs lately. But this one is about as close to perfect as exists. The design team nailed the new Viper. From the intimidating front end, to the extreme hood, to the outrageous signature door / fender design, to the Aston Martin-esque rear end… it’s just magical.
And the exhaust pipes are on the side, right under the doors, of course. I’m not even sure that a radio is included, because the only sound you’ll want to listen to is that exhaust note. Check out this video with closeups AND a bit of that Viper snarl.
