It’s no secret — I think the 2013 Ford Fusion is great. From the stunning design to the outstanding powertrain options, it’s the first midsize sedan to really grab my attention. So when I heard about the optional start-stop system, I was even more intrigued.
Available as a $295 option on the 1.6 liter EcoBoost models, the start-stop system improved fuel economy by 3.5 to 10 percent. That’s a wide range, of course — and it’s based on your driving habits. You won’t see an improvement in the EPA ratings, due to how the test is administered.
Ford estimates that the system could save drivers as much as $1100 over five years. Sounds like a no-brainer to me.
