Sure, the spy shots were fun. But we’re done with all that – Nissan has officially unveiled the 2012 Nissan Versa for the world to see. (To be fair, we only get to see the official version of the sedan so far.)
First things first, this car is a looker. I know some around the tubes we call the Internet are taking Nissan to task for the looks of the new Versa… but I think they’re nuts. Remember, this isn’t a Ferrari. This car starts at $10,990, and it looks great.
2012 Nissan Versa Specs
- 109 HP 1.6 liter 4 cylinder engine
- 5 speed manual transmission, with Xtronic CVT optional
- 15″ wheels & tires
- EPA rated at 30 MPG city, 37 MPG highway, 33 MPG combined
While you might be concerned with the power drop compared to the current model – don’t be. Nissan shaved 150 lbs off the 2012 Versa, which will more than make up for the power drop. Plus the improved MPG numbers look pretty good, if not stellar.
Built on an all new platform named “V”, the 2012 Versa has the same 102.4″ wheelbase and 66.7″ width as the 2011 model. However, Nissan cut 1.2″ in height and 0.6 in total length. Losing that inch and a half of height really helps out the proportions.
