2011 Nissan Murano

2011 Nissan Murano

The Nissan Murano has always lived in the “edgy” realm of styling. Particularly the front grille area – the Murano always makes a bold statement. That’s not to say it’s automatically ugly – though it’s definitely a love / hate type of thing.

For 2011, Nissan is giving the Murano a styling refresh. What was a loud, hard to ignore grille has grown into a deafening, impossible to ignore grille. One has to wonder when too much is, well, too much. Perhaps if you love the current Murano look, you’ll like the evolution.

Our European brothers will get a new diesel engine chioce – a 190 HP / 331 lb-ft 2.5 liter mill, good for roughly 29 MPG. Nissan expects a stunning 90% penetration rate for the diesel engine. Remember, Europe loves their diesels – unlike most folks in the States.
No word yet on American availability of the diesel engine. If I was a betting man, I’d bet against it. We’ll see a hybrid Murano here before a diesel. And that’s saying something, considering how Carlos Ghosn feels about hybrids.
