2011 Nissan Juke

Introducing the 2011 Nissan Joke Juke. I try to be fairly objective when reviewing new models, though my need to be brutally honest tends to take over most of the time. Today Nissan announced the 2011 Juke. It’s a crossover type thingy, smaller than the Nissan Rogue, which is already a compact CUV.

I’m not even sure where to start with the Juke. Maybe Nissan hired the same designers that worked on the Dodge Caliber and Kia Soul? Of course, someone in some sort of powerful position had to approve the designs….. how I would love to have that job. Apparently good taste, or even the ability to see isn’t really a requirement.

The Juke is just plain weird looking. It’s oddly shaped, strangely proportioned, and it looks like 8 different people designed it, and couldn’t agree on much of anything. Oh, and there’s also the center console that was supposedly inspired by a motorcycle fuel tank. Yes, whenever I look at the fuel tank of a motorcycle, I always longingly wish that my center console was shaped the same.

As for where the Juke fits in Nissan’s lineup, your guess is as good as mine. At 61 inches tall and sporting a 92.5 inch wheelbase, it’s smaller than a Versa. However, it’s being marketed as “part SUV, part sports car.” I don’t even know what that means. Anyway, if you’ve been wondering what this thing looks like, tons of pics are after the jump. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
