2011 Mustang gets a price tag

By now it’s no secret that I’m looking forward to the 2011 Mustang.  Whether you choose the 412 HP V8 powered GT, or the not-so-lowly 305 HP V6, you’re getting a huge power upgrade from 2010.  All that extra power comes at a price, of course.  Fortunately, the price increase is extremely modest, and well worth it on both models.

The V6 model will start at $22,995 (and yes, that includes destination.)  That’s just $750 more than 2010, for nearly one hundred extra ponies.  And it’s still cheaper than the Camaro.

If you just have to have a V8, then be prepared – the 2011 Mustang GT is the first GT to have a base MSRP over $30k.  You’ll need to pony up $30,495 to be exact, for the base GT.  That’s a $1250 increase over 2010.  While not exactly insignificant, it’s still cheaper than the Camaro SS by over a grand.

So let’s see…. just about equal horsepower numbers as the Camaro, with significantly lighter curb weights.  Looks the the performance crown will head back over to Ford in this pony car war.  Best performance, lowest prices, what’s not to like?
