When I heard that the 2011 Mustang was getting a brand new, bad-ass, 305 horsepower V6, I was pretty doggone happy. The base Mustang had always been the butt of jokes in the pony car world, but no more.
It’s not often that you see a manufacturer use an engine in only one model these days, and this sweet V6 is no exception. Ford will be dropping this engine into the F-150 as a base engine – after 2 years of no V6 option.
Three hundred ponies in a base V6 for the full-size F-150? Count me in as a supporter. That’s one solid engine, and more than enough for a base model. No word on what the EPA will rate this engine / truck combo at, but it has to be at least a few MPG better than the V8. If you don’t need the extra power, this engine will be worth a look.
