2011 Chevy Volt may cost less than $40,000

2011 chevy volt electric carFinally some good news on the Chevy Volt front.  For months it seemed, anytime someone from GM would mention the Volt, the target price went up.  Originally, the target price was under $30,000, but eventually it ended up north of $40k.  Quite a sticker price for a compact electric Chevy, no matter how cool it is.

The head of global program management at GM, Jon Lauckner, told the Wall Street Journal some good news recently.  He said the 2011 Volt could come to market well under $40k.  While that’s still vague, especially when it comes to the $7500 federal tax credit, it’s good to hear.

Chevy will likely keep the final MSRP quiet until just before the Volt officially launches late this year.  I, for one, can’t wait to see how it turns out.
