Before you get too excited - these pictures are absolutely unconfirmed.  We believe them to be the production version of the 2010 Toyota Prius - the third generation of Toyota’s bestselling hybrid.  The basic shape remains the same,of course, as well it should.  The funky cheese-wedge shape is about the best shape possible for aerodynamics.  The front end takes on an updated look resembling a grown-up Yaris…. I’m not a big fan of the change. 

The interior is all new too, and nothing particularly amazing to behold.  Not great, not bad.  What were you expecting?  The Prius is first and foremost an economy car - it’s all about MPG here folks.

We should know soon whether or not these pics are the real deal.  The 2010 Prius should come out mid next year, hopefully with specs sooner.  Remember, Toyota is sticking with NiMH batteries for the 3rd generation Prius, and not going the more expensive Lithium Ion route.  This should help keep the new Prius affordable for the masses, and ensure it remains the top selling hybrid vehicle.
