2010 Prius to start at $21,000

2010_prius_03 Toyota announced pricing on the redesigned 2010 Prius.  This 50 MPG car can be had for as little as $21000 – just $1200 more than the all-new 2010 Honda Insight.  Not to shabby considering the pretty hefty MPG bump you get by going with the Toyota.

The price doesn’t tell the whole story here, of course.  Toyota hasn’t yet released the actual equipment breakdown of the base model – so we don’t know if it will be lacking anything important to most buyers.  Hopefully Toyota will be forthcoming with this info soon, so we can get started on a full-fledged comparo.

Until then, the pricing starts pretty reasonably on the new Prius, though it does spiral all the way to a whopping $32,520 for a fully decked out unit.  Yikes, thirty two large for a Prius?
