Ford’s recent publicity stunt with their excellent Fusion Hybrid had a lofty goal – 1,000 miles on a tank of fuel. What happened was nothing short of spectacular. With some neato hypermiling tricks from the experts, the team blew away the goal by over 40%. When the tank finally ran dry, the Fusion Hybrid had travelled an incredible 1,445 miles. That’s just a single tank, folks. The average for the trip was a stunning 81.5 MPG – roughly double the Fusion Hybrid’s city EPA estimate. That oughta get Ford some positive publicity, ya?
