2009 Volkswagen Passat CC

There are very few truly “unique” automobiles brought to market today.  The ones that are often fail, because they fill a niche no one asked for.  See VW Phaeton for an example.  Or Malibu Maxx.  Perhaps that’s why VW went with the tried and true “make a nearly exact copy of a successful car” method for their latest model – the Passat CC.  What did they copy?  The Mercedes CLS class, of course.  Here’s a picture of them side by side – you can tell them apart, right?

VW’s planning to sell about 50k of the Passat CC each year worldwide, which might be a stretch.  There’s no word on starting price yet, but this is VW, so expect it to be too much.
