2009 Pontiac G8 GXP gets 415 HP

2009-pontiac-g8-gxp Four hundred and fifteen ponies.  Six point 2 liter small block pushrod V8.  Rear wheel drive American sedan.  Six speeds - complete with 3 pedals.  Put all that together and you get the 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP - one badass machine.

Forget the stupid name.  Forget the fact that Pontiac isn’t a brand you’d really like to own.  Focus on the facts - this car rocks, plain and simple.  With well over 400 horses under the hood, this thing will move like a bat out of hell, complete with a nasty snarl so you know who is boss.  Oh, for the days when gas was a buck-fifty.  If those days were back again, you can be damn sure I’d be first in line for one of these puppies.

  1. G8 is actually a re-vamped Holden Commodore from Australia.

    ;)

  2. You’re 100% right Kwozzie. It’s strange that one of the best American cars is really Australian underneath, isn’t it?
  3. Unfortunately the interior on the 2008 G8 looks Chrysler cheap… like it was made out of recycled plastic pop bottles.
This is unfortunately what I expect from Pontiac. GM builds world class drivetrains and then wraps them up in some really awful bodies.
  4. Well, the interior doesn’t look stunning, thats’ for sure. It won’t win any awards for style or quality. But I’m not sure I’d go so far as to call it Chrysler cheap.. it appears to be a tad better than that.

But, I haven’t had the pleasure to drive one yet, so I can’t comment from experience. It could very well feel like it’s on the same level as Chrysler interiors - and that would be very bad indeed.
