There are changes at Ford - and good ones this time.  For 2009, the Fusion gets a pretty solid upgrade.  How does a 170 HP, 2.5 liter 4 cylinder sound?  This 2.5 liter 4 banger replaces the 160 HP 2.3 liter in the current model.  The 4 speed auto also gets the boot, replaced by a six speed automatic.  What does that mean?  More power, better gas mileage.  The new engine doesn’t quite match Honda or Nissan, but it’s close enough to not really matter.  Official EPA ratings aren’t available yet of course, but Ford expects a few MPG improvement from the current 20 city / 28 highway.
