Ford has had the best-selling pickup truck in the world for so many years now that I’ve lost count. What makes Ford the best? Lots of things I guess, but for one, they seem to be pretty much spot-on with updates. They may neglect their car lines for too many years, but the truck updates keep coming like clockwork.

The next generation F-150 will debut in 2009, and these are the first spy shots ( that I know of ). The truck is heavily camouflaged, so much so that it’s difficult to make out any details at all. This is a vehicle that Ford wants to keep under wraps as much as humanly possible, since the competition is so heavy. Without the dominant F-150, Ford is in deep trouble.

There are no words on hardware yet, but I think it’s safe to say we’ll see some significantly more powerful engines. I’d be willing to bet that a clean diesel option will make it’s way into the 2009 F-150 lineup - but that’s just speculation on my part. Small Powerstroke with fantastic gas mileage anyone?
