2009 Dodge Ram Spy Shots
I hate the current Dodge Ram. I don’t make any apologies about it. I think it’s a horrendous vehicle, a bad truck, an unapologetic gas guzzler, and an eyesore. Also the fact that you have to get a $10,000+ discount on a Ram to make it a “decent” deal just adds to my detest for the vehicle.
I almost didn’t post this shot of the 2009 Ram, but I try not to let my disgust for any particular vehicle cloud my judgement too much. After all, many of you may be interested in the new Ram, and that’s quite alright. Different strokes, as they say.
There should be some decent upgrades in the engine department, with the Mopar 4.0 liter V6 replacing the current 3.7. I don’t know much about the 4.0 , but the 3.7 is wheezy, underpowered, and thirsty. So I say bring it. The 4.7 and 5.7 V8’s will also likely se upgrades. The Hemi upgrade is important, as the Toyota V8 pummels its specs currently, and that’s quite embarrassing.
Look for the 2009 Dodge Ram in fall 2008.

As for the gas versions, I expect them to get horrendous mileage as they always have.
If you *need* a full-size truck for work, then yes, you should get one. And of course, you’ll either want a strong V8 or a diesel to make things go smoothly. Oh, and for the record, your Ram can’t move “5000k” of anything. That’s 5 million pounds, by the way.
Not sure if I’ve written about it or not, but for the record, the Ridgeline sucks. A FWD ( FWD based AWD system ), minivan-based, IRS truck? Please. It’s a truck for people who freely admit that they don’t intend to use it as a truck. Completely pointless, in other words.
But I also didn’t buy mine thinking hmm I bet I get 50MPG with this vehicle. No Igot it cause I wanted it. But then again you are form TX, and we all know what comes from TX now don’t we.
I drive a Honda Civic Hybrid currently, dark blue if you must know. I recently traded in my Mustang Mach1 and Lincoln Navigator because I was sick of spending so much on gas. Your comment is reasonably civil, so it stays. I delete comments that have the sole purpose of pissing me off and being a general ass.
Jeremy:
You are horrible at math. I believe you are referring to this - “try movin at leat 5000k with a 6cyl” , and I stated that a Ram can’t move 5 million pounds. “K” is a symbol for “thousand”. So 5000k becomes 5 thousand thousand, or 5 million. If you’re going to be an ass, at least attempt to be an educated ass.
John Q:
Offering discounts is a benefit to the consumer right now, today. When it’s time to trade in the vehicle, the resale value has long taken a nosedive, and it’s painful. I can’t tell you how many folks I’ve seen 10, 15, or even twenty thousand dollars upside down on their Dodge Rams. Sub par quality, sub par reliability, and heavy discounts have done horrible things to the resale value of the Ram.
For what it’s worth, I think the Tundra is over-sized and way, way overpriced. $47k for a light-duty pickup truck? What has the world come to? That should buy you a 1-ton truck with every option imaginable.
But that ain’t the only reason we buy anything. They are good trucks just as the other brands are mostly but they all have their issues. Best buy the style that suits you best and what you like the looks of.
Why am I on this site? Well, I own it for one. And I write the majority of the articles. Oh yea and I OWN IT.
And for the record, I agree that the Tundra is vastly overpriced, and the Ridgeline doesn’t even qualify as a truck.
Final thought - I wrote up a great post on the new 2009 Ram. First impression is that I really like it. So there.
