Cadillac CTS-V. That name is just a few years old, but already has the kind of bone-chilling effect that some other, much older names have. You hear those letters and you know you’re talking about a fast car. The previous generation was powered by a 400 HP LS6 – The Corvette Z06 engine. For the all-new 2009 CTS-V, the Z06 engine wasn’t good enough, even though it sports 505 HP this time around. Nope, not good enough for the M5 killer from Cadillac.
Instead of robbing from the Z06, the V designers had to step up their game, and go to the top. All the way to the top, in fact. The Corvette ZR-1. The insane LSA engine found under the hood of the 09 CTS-V is derived from the LS9 in the ZR-1. Man that’s a lot of letters. Enough jabbering on about letters, what in the world does all this mean? Take a look:
2009 Cadillac CTS-V Specs
- 550 HP Supercharged 6.2 liter V8
- 550 lb-ft of torque
- Six speed auto or six speed manual
- RWD only
- Magnetic Ride Control
- 19″ wheels ( which are totally bad-ass for the record )
That’s right, Five Hundred and Fifty horsepower – this thing is insanely, ridiculously, stupid fast. Pricing isn’t out yet, and I hate to speculate. But expect M3 pricing with M5 performance. Yes, it’s that good.
