2009 Audi S4 gets a V6

2009-audi-s4-2 The previously V8 powered Audi S4 is instead getting a TFSI ( Turbocharged & FSI direct injected ) 3.0 liter V6.  Power sinks just a bit from 339 HP to the new 333 HP.  I don’t know a single person who can feel a six horsepower difference.  With the smaller engine, the new S4 is likely to be a bit lighter as well, which will negate any power difference.  Zero to 60 MPH should come in about 5.1 seconds – so this car is hardly a slowpoke.  The added bonus of the smaller engine is approximately 25% better fuel economy – not a bad jump, especially when the performance stays the same.  Your choice of 6 speed meat cleaver or 7 speed S-Tronic transmission – but of course you know which one you should pick.

As for looks, the new S4 is typically Audi – understated bad-ass-edness.  If you aren’t in the know, then this won’t look like anything special.  No giant spoilers or hood scoops to give away the power underneath.  And of course the interior is famously Audi as well – stylish and classy.  Pricing hasn’t been announced yet… but it won’t be cheap.  What can I say?  This is a bad-ass little family hauler.  You can even get it in a wagon if that’s more your style.  Audi got this one right, no question about it.
