2008 Nissan Rogue Pricing Announced

2008 Rogue Nissan finally elaborated on their previously announced “starting under $20,000″ pricing for the all-new 2008 Rogue. They held true to their word, of course, as the base S FWD model does start under twenty grand, even when you add the $475 destination fee. Here’s the pricing breakdown by trim level:

  • S FWD: $19,250
  • SL FWD: $20,670
  • S AWD: $20,450
  • SL AWD: $21,870

Base pricing doesn’t include the $475 destination fee.

Here’s the pricing on the major packages:

  • Moonroof Package: $800
  • Premium Package (FWD): $1,900
  • Premium Package (AWD): $2,200
  • Leather Package: $1,800

So it looks like even a fully loaded Rogue will come in under $26,500. Not too shabby, considering the level of equipment this one will have. In addition, Nissan announced EPA ratings for the 08 Rogue – and they’re pretty strong. FWD models are rated at 22 mpg city / 27 mpg highway, while AWD models get 21 MPG city / 26 MPG highway. These numbers should be right about even with the Honda CRV – the Rogue’s biggest competitor.

Canada has been served the X-Trail for a few years now and it’s become a bit of a surprising sales success, please Nissan to no end. The Rogue does appear to be a better vehicle and, as noted, has a great pricing scheme. Check out the post on Sensible Naming and another on Misplaced Names (such as the Rogue) at http://www.GoodCarBadCar.net

The Rogue has a curious name, as discussed at GoodCarBadCar, but it seems like a better vehicle than the X-Trail Canadians have already bought plenty of.

They don’t sell the X-Trail here in the US, but I think the Rogue is a better fit for our market right now anyway. If Nissan markets it right, they will sell an absolute TON of these vehicles.

When Nissan introduced the X Trail to Canada they said that it was too small for the US market, knowing full well that no more X Trails were to be sold in Canada as they had already planned to market just as small a vehicle in the future both north and south of the border.
