2008 Nissan Pathfinder Preview

2008 Nissan Pathfinder Nissan is updating their popular Pathfinder mid-size SUV for 2008 as well – and in a pretty big way.  No full redesign or new platform here, but then again it’s not needed.  The last full Pathfinder update was in 2005, so it hasn’t been very long.  This time around, there are minor styling changes on the outside.  It’s hard to describe, and the change is a little subtle, but the front end is a little ‘squished’, for lack of a better term.  It doesn’t look bad, but certainly not earth shattering.  There are some new wheels on the pic, though I’m not sure if they’ll make it to production.  They’re a little un-Pathfinder-like, though I like them.

The inside is where the main changes are.  The center stack is all new, and much better looking than before.  The shifter is also new – good call Nissan.  A hard-drive based entertainment system will also be available, probably on the LE model.

What no one expected is a change under the hood.  The 266 HP 4.0 liter V6 in the current model has never, not once, been called out for lack of power, torque, or balls in general.  The currently Pathfinder is fast, and can get out of control pretty quickly if you’re not careful.  For some reason, the gurus at Nissan decided to drop the massive, powerful, torque-monster 5.6 liter V8 from the Armada/Titan duo into the Pathfinder.  Yes, the 317 HP, 380+ lb-ft of torque V8.  I think I just drooled a little bit.  Source.
