2008 Mazda6 Official Pic Avalanche

2008-Mazda6-wagon-back Mazda will be officially introducing the 2008 Mazda6 in all it’s glory at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show, but they did leak a whole bunch of pics for your enjoyment. There will be three differently body styles - sedan, hatchback, and wagon. There’s no official word on which we’ll see here in the States, but it’s likely that only the sedan and wagon will make it over - hatches don’t historically sell well in the US. The specs are still shrouded in mystery, but there are a ton of pics, and this juicy tidbit of information. Unlike nearly every other vehicle that gets redesigned, the 2008 Mazda6 will *not* get larger than the outgoing model, it will actually weigh less, it will get better fuel economy, and it will emit less CO2 from the tailpipe.

2008-Mazda6 There are exceptionally few vehicles that actually shed weight during a redesign - that, coupled with the reduction in CO2 emissions and increased fuel economy show that Mazda made a very smart call with the new Mazda6.

The sedan is sporty looking ( the front is great ), but slightly less awesome than the new Altima. The hatchback is also really neat - it kinda has the 4 door coupe thing going on - not a bad look at all. It’s a shame we probably won’t see it over here.

The new wagon surprised me the most. I don’t know, nor will I likely ever like wagons - they just don’t do it for me. But as far as wagons go, the 2008 Mazda6 Wagon is the best looking wagon on the road - bar none. In fact, it looks so good that I bet it will cannibalize CX-7 sales drastically. Really, there’s not much room for the Mazda6 wagon and the CX-7 - they overlap greatly in functionality. I’d bet that the CX-7 won’t get a second iteration once this model’s time is up. Check out the picture gallery after the jump.
