2008 King of the Road Shelby GT500KR

2008 King of the Road Shelby GT500KR Everyone that Ford had created the ultimate Mustang when the Shelby GT500 was unleashed – and they were almost right. Except that everyone forgot about the Shelby’s of old, and how the GT500KR was the ultimate Mustang. What does KR mean, you ask? Well, King of the Road, of course. And it’s coming Spring 2008.

Meet the 2008 King of the Road Shelby GT500KR – the new ultimate Mustang. Ford is only going to make 1,000 of these phenomenal machines, and chances are you’ll have to pay dearly to get your hands on one. Oh, and coupes only – no ragtops to be found in this bunch of fire-breathing beasts.

If the normal GT500 isn’t hardcore enough for you, which I cannot possibly imagine, then this just may be the car for you.

So, what does the 2008 King of the Road Shelby GT500KR have to offer over the regular GT500? Here’s the lowdown on the most powerful Mustang ever.

2008 King of the Road Shelby GT500KR Specs

  • 540 HP 5.4 liter Supercharged DOHC 32 valve V8
  • 510 lb-ft of torque
  • 3.73:1 final drive ratio
  • Air ducts to cool the front brakes
  • Exclusive GT500KR 18″ wheels
  • Exclusive GT500KR carbon composite hood
  • MSRP estimated near $50,000

That price tag is scary, but I’d be surprised if Ford has much trouble selling out of this one. Any dealers taking deposits yet?
