2008 Honda Accord Coupe Concept
I’ve been waiting for the actual concept car of the 2008 Accord Coupe since seeing the drawing awhile back. The good thing is that Honda kept the rear end of the car very similar to the drawing - and it looks absolutely fantastic. The quad exhaust will probably turn into dual exhaust for the production model, which is fine. But the rear of the car is daring enough without being offensive, that I really like it.
The problem, though, is not the rear of the car. It’s the fact that that the side profile and front of the car look exactly like a Hyundai Tiburon, which I don’t like. See, Hyundai is supposed to be copying Honda, not the other way around. I like the basic look of the current Accord front end. If Honda can combine that ( spice it up a little, of course ) with the concept rear end, they’ll have a huge hit, and I’ll buy one. If they keep the Tiburon look, this Accord will bring new meaning to the word suckage.
Autobytel’s thoughts on the 2008 Honda Accord Coupe Concept - ‘We are surprised Honda’s design so closely follows that of the Hyundai Tiburon, but it holds enough of its own lines and style to keep everyone happy, including current and new potential customers. We wish an interior had also been revealed but don’t doubt whatever Honda brings to the table will be up to Accord standards.’
It seems they see the same thing I do - a Tiburon will a nice rear.
Karl on Cars had this to say about the 2008 Accord Coupe concept - ‘I do like the design, however, as the current Accord always looked a little flabby to me. More power and better mileage is another promise that buyers will appreciate.’
More power and mileage is good, very good. Well, at least the mileage part. The current Accord isn’t hurting for real-world power or performance. It does fall behind on paper, but there’s plenty of go-juice when you’re out on the road, whether you’re in the I4 or V6.
**Update**
The first real live spy shots of the 2008 Honda Accord Coupe are out. Don’t miss them!

I wouldn’t say it’s a kia knock off I’d say their reaching back to the earily 90 accord look, at least the front end. I like the new accord concept compared to the 06 accord which is bland and looks too much like a domestic car (I hate with a passion). I previously owned a 92 accord before and I like that better. In my opinon I’d rather drive a 92 accord than a 06. It looks like the opel astra v8, very sleek.
I bought my first Accord in September 06 ( a 2007 model ) and overall I like it alot. Yes, the look is on the bland side, which is a little unfortunate. But then again I didn’t buy it because of the looks. The design was unnoffensive, which is really all I wanted design-wise. It was the reliability, gas mileage, safety, and resale value that made the decision for me.
But I don’t know if I can get on board with the looks of the new one. Back end great, front and side view BLEH. But to each his own, as they say, right?
The second is a higher curb weight, and the lower gas mileage that goes along with it. Those extra 200-300 ( guessstimate ) pounds will hurt fuel economy, something that Honda pays a lot of attention to.
Perhaps the S2000 replacement will have an AWD option available. What I’d really like to see is the new S2000 as a 4 seater, maybe with a turbo 4 instead of the whiny thing they have under the hood of the current gen.
I just want to say something about that. Honda yes is focusing on good fuel economy cars, but what intrests me is the specs for the new NSX. Honda seems to focusing on a v-10 approx.5.0 liter engine with awd. Which I don’t think that is very economic, and why is it that they can’t enhance the v6 engine that was in the NSX originally. Why not use a turbocharger or twin turbo in it. Why are they going with a larger engine. Larger engine means lower mpg, what makes that car different from the viper? Are they trying to expand their selection of performance cars, or just trying to keep up with nissan and other japanese cars. Now I am a HUGE HONDA FAN and I would like nothing more than to see a great performing car thats different, maybe it’s time for a change for Honda.
Yes!
THAT’S PRETTY NICE, FANCY.
Nothing strange when you have your sourses with your salesmen , am not only sales , i have a huge company in middle east and i have 40 salesman , i have many branches in the middle east , trust me i sell cars more than the trading-enterprises , i sold 3000 cars for honda only in the middle east the last 15 months ,
i sell BMW , AUDI , LUMINA SS , MERCEDES , TOYOTA ONLY LEXUS , 4WHEEL ’s (many kinds ), HONDA ONLY V6 CARS ,
ONE more thing my friend , in usa you care about petrol , its so much expensive , but in gulf area its cheap , and people never thing about the petrol expenses , most of the people buy V8 , because the petrol is cheap here ,
one example , the full petrol for HONDA 3.0L here costs = 20$ how much its costs in usa , i guess not less than a hundred $ AM I RIGHT ?
i think that the above example will explain why the people here cares about the speed and the engin size ,
thank again brither !
IS IT $20 TO FILL THE TANK?
THIS IS THE RATE FOR MY CAR
A HONDA CIVIC EX 1.7L

$3.16PER GALLON FOR PREMIUM UNLEADED
X13GALLONS

$41.08 TO FILL MY CAR
YES I LIVE NEAR THE GULF OF MEXICO SO GAS IN TEXAS IS CHEAPER BECAUSE WE ARE CLOSER TO THE OIL RIGS THAN LETS SAY ILLINOIS OR NEWYORK.
I’D LIKE TO SEE YOUR RATES ON GAS SIMILAR TO THIS EXAMPLE BECAUSE AM COURIOUS ON THE PRICE DIFFERENCE, I KNOW YALL PROABLY DON’T SALE GAS IN GALLONS BEACAUSE WE USE THE ENGLISH MESUREMENT SYSTEM INSTEAD OF THE METRIC SYSTEM AM I CORRECT?
However, demand will probably be high at first, coupled with short supply. That means MSRP will *probably* be common for awhile, at least for a bit. Once the supply catches up, then deals will be had pretty readily, as is always the case with the Accord.
So V6/V8/V12/rear/front/4 wd? Bring it on.
Thanx fo yall’s tyme.
Peace.
BTW it must be nice to fillup for only $9.30 - that’s impressive. It costs me about $26 to fill up my Civic Hyrid - and that’s got a tiny gas tank. My accord runs mid 30’s. I guess living in the biggest oil country in the world has it’s benefits
The accord V6 will be the only ones that have the quad exhausts. Also the v6 accord is 268hp and gets 0 to 60 5.9sec. Since it has the cylinder shut off system it will save on gas.
pure looks no performance there
I understand that the headlights from the concept car didn’t carry over to the production, But overall the car is worth buying. I wouldn’t worry so much about the headlights, personally the headlights can be replaced with aftermarket brands. But for a stocked car to look that sporty compared to the previous 07′ model this is a total makeover. I’m impressed with the whole design they really out done themselves on this one. Kudos Honda.
The MSRP price can range from the $21,860 LX-S to the $30,510 EX-L V6 w Navigation. I don’t know the exact date, but they been saying somewhere around fall of this year. So pretty soon.
But yah I didn’t except it to be out now , I figured it would be pretty soon because Car and Driver had given the specs and the overall evaluation during their testdrive.
I will agree that CRV is sharp, even the interior looks sporty. Compared to the previous models, it reminds me of the Civic Si Hatch back interior a bit. Also it does resemble a car, but I wonder what does CR-V stand for. Car Renaissance-Vehicle? Because I know CRX mean Car Renaissance eXperiment.
