2008 Dodge Caliber SRT-4 due in September 07

2008-dodge-caliber-srt4 After toying around with the idea for decades ( seemingly ), the 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT-4 is finally official, and we’ll see in this September. Power specs are down slightly from the previously reported 300 HP / 260 lb-ft of torque. The production engine will put out a not unhealthy 280 HP and 260 lb-ft of torque. Chrysler is still using the turbocharged and intercooled 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine. Power goes to the wheels via a six speed Getrag box, and there are some fancy voodoo tricks to help manage torque steer. Presumably, Chrysler detuned the engine a bit to help in this area too. Even as it sits, 280 HP to the front wheels of such a small vehicle could spell trouble.

Target price for the Caliber SRT-4? Starting under $20,000. Knowing Dodge, this version will likely come without power windows / locks, and maybe even A/C. I’d guess that a reasonably equipped version would run closer to $24-25k.

  1. I like the standard 1.8 4cyl with its impressive 148hp! I would’nt mind buying just the standard model because of its power!
