2008 Acura NSX Preview

You just may be looking at the all-new 2008 Acura NSX. This time around, it’ll be an Acura on both sides of the pond - the Acura brand is set to debut in Japan in 2008 as well. The specs are, well, unreal. Acura’s old halo car was revolutionary in some ways, and ho-hum in others. The all-aluminum body was a first, and led the way for many of today’s high performance cars. The engine was a bit of a sore spot, a V6 topping out at 270HP. Nothing to laugh at, but certainly far from ’supercar’ territory.

The 2008 Acura NSX’s proposed powerplant is a monstrous 4.5L V10. Max power should come in somewhere around 550 hp - this car is no joke. All that power will be routed to all four wheels in a brand new FR+SH-AWD system. The Aluminum body is staying around to keep weight in check. How much will it take to plant your butt in this delicious supercar? I have no idea. I don’t have the slightest clue how many yen make up a dollar. If I had to guess I’d peg it around the 90-100k mark, though that’s just a WAG.

  1. This looks like an “old man’s” car. What happened to the great supercar looking plans that they had? They might as well badge this thing the Acura Mid-Life Crisis Sedan. Don’t they see what is going on with Masarati? There cars LOOK HOT!!!! This NSX may be a rocket, but it looks more like Mom.
If your going to build an exotic, make it look like one too!!! I had a 97 NSX. People went nuts when I drove by. This NSX will make them yawn. Nothing exciting here to look at. Just boring!!! I have been waiting for this but instead I’ll either just get another older style NSX, or maybe a different car that says “wow” with the power to also back it up.
  2. I think it looks pretty slick personally. Perhaps not as drop-dead gorgeous as the first generation NSX, but still a fine looking car by any means. A little more flair maybe couldn’t hurt, but that’s not really the Acura way. I’m guessing there won’t be many stlyistic changes to this one before production.
