The name isn’t particularly elegant, but you are looking at the fastest production car in the world. That’s right, the Shelby Supercars Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo made a top speed average run of 255.83 MPH – that’s over 3 MPH faster than the previous record-holder Bugatti Veyron. The first one is officially for sale, so if you have deep pockets, here’s your chance to buy it. No word on the price – your guess is as good as mine. But I think it’s safe to say you’re probably looking at somewhere in the high 6 to low 7 figure range. Serious buyers only, please.
As for numbers, how about 1183 horsepower and 1094 lb-ft of twist? That’s right, over eleven hundred horsepower. More than two Shelby GT500′s combined. Total curb weight is just 2700 lbs ( over 1400 lbs less than the Veyron ) – thanks to a specially designed carbon fiber body. For some reason, this car is fitted with a manual transmission. How in the world someone could be confident enough to row their own gears in a car this powerful is beyond me. But of course, I’d be willing to give it a shot.
