Luroc:
The noisy engine is normal for the QR25 - it's always been on the noisy side as far as 4 bangers go. The knocking sound is something that you might be concerned with, and you should certainly have it checked out. I have noticed that in several of the Spec-V examples that I've driven - though not all. It may be harmless, but still worth getting checked.

i just bought a sentra ser 08 model two months ago, and i think that they havent gotten rid of all their problems with their engines. the motor is a bit too noisy, and for some reason after i turn the car on and start to get going. there is a one time knocking noise comming from the engine. ive scheduled an appointment for service, but its sad to say that i have problems with it two months after i purchased it.

Mike,
I'm sorry to hear about the problems with your Spec-V. I wasn't really into cars all too much back in 02. The Spec-V uses the same QR25 that's in the current model Altima, and as far as I've it's been a pretty reliable engine. It may have had some early issues like you've experienced, but it seems to have cleared up.
Nissan's made some changes to the QR for the new Spec-V ( hence the 200 HP rating ) so hopefully we can kiss quality issues goodbye.
I'd buy a Civic SI anyway if I was in this market, but that's just me.

I was all excited and bought a ser specv when they came out new in 02'. The car has had two engines. Go to forums about the 02' and up ser's before you buy one as they are junk. The catalytic converter is known to fail and pieces get sucked back in the engine and ruin it. look up recalls for the 2.5 QR25DE engine nissan cars if you dont believe me that its a pos.
