Nissan made a boo-boo - over 140,000 of their hugely popular Altima sedan were recalled due to possible engine fires.  Only the 2.5 liter engines were affected, and only 4 actual fires were reported.  The problem is a faulty air filter that could catch on fire if something hot ( think cigarette ashes ) get drawn into it.

Nissan also had an engine-fire scare with the 2.5 liter Altimas last year, though it was on the old body-style 2006 models.  I think Nissan makes a good product but really, really needs to focus on better quality control.  It’s getting harder to compare Nissan with Honda and Toyota these days.
